Ms. Stubbendeck,
While I have no specific work to cite, I do know that the people with the
savviest expertise in this area are our colleagues, the genealogists. You
might try some of their associations -- such as National Genealogical
Society (U.S.) http://www.ngsgenealogy.org/
or the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Someone must have written
on this.
