Would this have been in combat?
Soldiers do occasionally die during war due to causes other
than combat,
such as disease, which was a major killer in several wars,
and accidents.
Sometimes, they spend their entire time in the service
outside the
combat zones, but that's not necessarily less dangerous.
(For instance,
there are occasionally deaths during training.)
I'd be interested in the answer to Cheryl's question. This
has never
occurred to me.
