Thanks for this heads-up. For the record, I'll say that my usage is that
listed in the AP style manual (and reflects my newspaper background).

And perhaps I can head off any further discussion by noting the admonition
at Wickiup that there are those who say use the serial comma and those who
say don't anbd one should never get in between them!
