I certainly don't know much about patent law, but I agree with Craig.? On the surface, at least, it sounds like they are trying to patent logic.? Logic was invented a very long time ago!

If I read what they have invented, guys like Dick Pence and I have been
using these techniques for over thirty years to drill down into our personal
one-name study surname databases. There is neither magic here, nor anything
worthy of patent in my humble opinion.
We have been concatenating a person's name with a unique identify such as
birth date or name of spouse or some other discriminator (like "on Big
Creek") in order to shrink the size of our analysis pools for a very long
time.
It is a shame to see that they believe they have the right to this process.
It is like recently on the web I saw that someone had trademarked "White
Pages." I can't believe that was possible.
