Thanks for asking about the BCG appeals process. As I am sure you
suspected, the mediator is not paid.

As you have noted, the focus of the BCG appeals process is to mediate
and resolve disputes. This is all done confidentially, and because of
that, I'm not at liberty to share any appeals.

Until the 20th when we believe the new bylaws will be accepted, the Greater
Boston Area chapter rep was the only elected position in the entire chapter.
It might, indeed, be tough to get any volunteers if the job included
volunteer advocacy. This particular chapter has a surfeit of members with
strong opinions, though. Someone would step up.

BCG does mediation, described as a "low-cost alternative" to using an
attorney. While different from advocacy, and thus perhaps apples and oranges
comparison, does low-cost mean the mediator is paid? If paid or unpaid, the
APG advocate would have to be trained and capable, as well as willing.
