I had an opportunity this week to get with a couple of people in the family and talk about our tree a bit. Some of my "regrets" were:
1. not talking with family who live close-by my parents. It's absolutely amazing their stories and memories of the same family member that are completely different from mine.
2. Not having a digital recorder, portable scanner and printer. I'd take them everywhere.
3. Not getting DNA samples.

I'm teaching a beginner genealogy class, and I'd like to help people
avoid the mistakes we made when we started out. I have my own list, but
I'd like to get an unscientific poll from this prestigious group of the
three things you regret the most, when you started (i.e. not citing
sources, etc.).
Thanks!
