Subject: [APG] African American Revolutionary War Soldier honored
Date: Thu, 29 May 2008 09:05:28 -0400
There was a great story in yesterday's Gate City Daily (Keokuk, Iowa)
about honoring an African American Revolutionary War Soldier. Cato Mead
is thought to be "the only black Revolutionary soldier buried west of
the Mississippi."
Mead was born and raised in Connecticut. At 79 he moved to Iowa where
he died 6 years later The article talks quite a bit about the
involvement of the SAR/DAR.

I had trouble getting the article to come up the first time but it
worked the second time I tried.
