I would also add the following to the titles dealing with the general
economic and political history of Germany for the early part of the
nineteenth century:
Hamerow, Theodore S. Restoration, Revolution, Reaction: Economics and
Politics in Germany, 1815 - 1871. Princeton, New Jersey: Princeton
University Press, 1958.

I'm doing quite a bit of research on families from Germany, primarily
from the former Kingdom of Hannover, Grand Duchy of Oldenburg, and
Schaumburg-Lippe. I'd like to find some books, in English, on the
history of the area pre-1872, however most books I seem to find focus
on late 19th and 20th century events in Germany. If anyone has some
suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Also if there are any web
sites with good information on this area.
