Yes, there is. It's the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and is dedicated to
telling the stories of Wisconsin's sailors and ship and submarine building
industries. They even have one of the subs that was built in Manitowoc
during World War II, the USS COBIA, docked next to the museum and give tours
of it, as well as having overnight educational programs on it on Saturday
nights in the summer so that you can experience what life on a submarine was
like during the war. Their Website is at http://www.wisconsinmaritime.org/.

Mary Beth,
I cannot access ancestry.com at home, but recently learned
there is a museum in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, that has a
section (to my knowledge) about the submarines produced in
Manitowoc. Interesting.

Manitowoc, Wisconsin, had some type of industry employing millwrights, press
works operators, machinists, buffers, and spinners in 1930. The industry
looks like "alum shop" (column 26) but a shop doesn't sound large enough to
me to employ that many different types of laborers.
