A family came from Italy in Aug 1926. The father is naturalized in Sep 1926
in New York and names the 3 minor
children (all under age 6). The wife is not named on the certificate
(Ancestry.com, New York Petitions for Naturalization).

However, in the 1930 census the naturalization column states "Na" for her.

It appears that he might have been a WWI alien in the US armed forces
because the above "cert" states Act of 5/26/26. Also the 1930 census
indicates veteran of WW.

My question is - at this time, 1926, did women of foreign birth who came in
with a husband of foreign birth have to get their own naturalization or did
they derive it from the husband's?

Thank you for any assistance,
Ann S.
