But if you don't know that a file even exists, then you can't
even ask to see it. What you don't know won't hurt you, and as long as
you think you're getting it all, then you'll be willing to pay for the
subscriptions and believe the propaganda that they are "99.(whatever)
percent accurate".
Hello, Peggy,
Thank you very much for that long and very interesting letter. A couple of
weeks ago I frequented footnote and was looking for a Missing-Air-Crew-Report
from World War II from I knew it existed. Actually I got a micro-fiche-copy of
that MACR a couple of years ago. Unfortunately that fiche's images are
pretty poor and a printout nowadays is rarely possible as there aren't any more
companies any longer who can provide that service (actually in our area I
wasn't able to find any). So I checked footnote who provided a search for those
records (kept at NARA). They show data about missing air crew from shot down
bombers over Europe (and other countries as well).
Looking for that particular MACR footnote's search engine told me there were
no records. But I had 'em! I suggested maybe they still have not all scanned
and still are in progress to do so.
But what you wrote give footnote's service another "quality". Thanks for
sharing.
Yours
