Mary,
I don't understand what you're advocating. There already are 2 credentialing bodies and 1 professional organization, all of which have standards, and means to enforce them. What more do you want? Licensing? How would that help genealogists? How would it help clients? The only thing it would do is limit the number of people who could practice the profession. Or is that what you're really advocating?
