When I was doing the research for my thesis on early Lebanese families in
South Carolina, I tracked several of these families back as far as
I could. I found all sorts of interesting things as well as some great
stories
of immigrants triumphing over adversity.
I even found that almost all the immigrant families in Greenville,
South Carolina, lived in a small area for a few decades at the
end of the 19th and early in the 20th centuries. These families were
from several nations.
I'm still chasing down some miscellaneous info on several members of my
families, but that's basically to fill in some short gaps in individuals'
time lines.
