Dee Dee and Allison,

Other professions use "grandfathering" to solve that problem.  Once the standards are created, those who will not qualify are "grandfathered in" because it would be unfair to exclude them.

Setting any type of new standard or definitions in an attempt to move the profession forward, means that there will be a percentage of those currently working in the field who will not meet those new standards and/or definitions.

It is nearly impossible to get everyone (or even most) onboard with "modernizing" or "leading in the future" because, in my opinion, there is too much fear about being excluded or being left behind once the changes begin.

I sincerely do not mean this to sound flip  -  but then the future of the many is determined by the fears of the few?
