I was very interested to learn of the new search tool. I have been
looking FOREVER for a death certificate of my great-grandfather
William Woodson Brownfield. I was all excited when news of the
"Search Pilot" was made on this list with specific reference to a
heretofore unavilable death certificate.
So, I was not too disappointed that even when I specified DEATH it
still popped up births and 200 other references to anyone named
William Brownfield at any time and any place....not one of them a death.
Oh well, one can still dream. This man probably died around 1920 but
in what state I am clueless. It could have been anywhere. My obvious
searches were in Missouri, Illinois and Kansas, but knowing this man,
no grass grew under his feet. His children by at least one of his
wives lived in California and Georgia. One of them was "Uncle Roy"
who took after his father and had about 8 wives. I do not know if he
had any children though. This is by far my most troublesome
line...and only my great grandfather! (I do however have his
ancestry, which was definitely one of those AHA! moments we talked
about recently.)
