Subject: [APG] Boston University Certificate in Genealogical Research onlinein the fall
Date: Tue, 23 Jun 2009 05:52:21 -0400
Hello,
This fall BU's new genealogy program will be expanding to an online format.
http://professional.bu.edu/cpe/Genealogy.asp
The initial 98 class hour winter semester (14 weeks of 7 hour Saturdays
classes) and the accelerated summer program now running (14 weekdays of
7 class hours) indicate very significant trends.
Experienced genealogists want to upgrade their skills.
Novice genealogists want to jump start their learning curve.
More than half of the participants, particularly those with advanced
degrees in other fields not a few of which are PHDs, view this course as
a professional development path.
Many are also considering this course as ground work for BCG certification.
The age range begins with 30 something folks.
The dollar and time commitment is a serious investment.
As an instructor in this program, I can tell you that the winter
semester students remain fired up and the summer program students are
indefatigable despite the current marathon 3 week schedule.
Degreed curriculum is still pending, but the reality is that people are
motivated by the skill development.
