Greetings,

While professionalism and certification are important in genealogy. It is
also important for professional genealogists to understand the business of
genealogy. That includes how to set up a business, finances, legal issues
and marketing. I am not dismissing the value of the certification and
professionalism conversations. However, as a single woman with a full time
job who has deep passion for genealogy. I constantly struggle with how to
transition to genealogy full-time and make my passion my life's work. Since
I do not have a spouse or significant other to assist with my living
expenses, this is a challenge. I know that there are others on this list
with similar concerns. Again, while conversations about professional, et.
al are useful. I would also like to learn how some professional
genealogists have successfully grown their business over the past five, ten
or twenty years.
