I sent a previous reply that hasn't come through to the list yet, at least
I haven't received it; but I don't believe publication of the English
translation has anything to do with the issue at hand. According to the
Copyright Handbook CREATING the English translation required permission of the
original copyright holder and we've been told that was not obtained. Therefore
the English translator would have been guilty of infringement and would not
have held any copyright.
