Subject: [AR-CEM] Death Certificates Information
Date: Thu, 5 Apr 2001 19:30:40 EDT
If you do or when you send for a death certificate, be sure to include where
you received the information. Not me, but from what book/volume "Arkansas
Death Record Index"
If you are lucky enough to find your surname in these Death Record Indexes,
PLEASE, include the Volume #, Page #, and Column # and the exact spelling of
the surname as it was printed, date of death and County the death occurred
when requesting a Death CERTIFICATE. This complete information will help that
department find the death record you are seeking.
By law, Feb.1914, deaths were to be reported, but some counties were slow to
report deaths. If you know a date a person died and they are not in these
indexes, your date could be right, just not reported and not on file.
These death records are copied and published in these 4 Volumes from the
Health Departments (Vitals) own records in their files.
These death records were prepared for publication by:
Desmond Walls Allen.

Tip: The information on a Death Certificate is only as good as the
information from the person giving the information. This informer could be a
neighbor, relative, friend, nurse, or even a Dr. Also check WHO is giving the
information if it is on the certificate. Usually, not always, the death
certificate gives the Funeral Home used and/or the cemetery where the person
is buried.
Hope this helps.
