Just wanted to let you know, I recently went throught the process of placing
a government marker on my gggrandfather's grave. Just wanted to let you know
to plan about 6 months for the process to be completed. It was a simple
process, but is somewhat misleading on the time allowed in the application.

I and family members traveled to Arkansas to place marker and was a very
emotional but satisfying experience. The grave was on private land and I am
hoping the grave location will not be lost. I believe this is a piece of
history that needs to be preserved, but it is a problem as it is located on
private land and not in a cemetery. I do feel fortunate that the landowner is
interested in the upkeep of this grave and marker. My gggrandfather now has a
Civil War government marker, and this project brought together family that
had been seperated for over a hundred years. I believe he would be very
pleased.
