I saw a J. M. Haynes listed yesterday in a book entitled Confederate
Soldiers Buried in Arkansas by Rena Marie Knight. Her information says
that this J. M. Haynes was in Co. D, Monroe's Arkansas Troops and that he
is buried in Ozan Cemetery in Hempstead County. Other information I have
found indicates either he or his wife applied for pension # 23092 from
Howard County. Could someone who has access to the pension records
please tell me if his name was Jonathan or James and if his wife's name
was Mary? I have been trying to find out what happened to Jonathan M.
Haynes, who was in Co. G, 4th Arkansas Infantry, and was taken prisoner
at Pea Ridge/Elkhorn, March 7, 1862, according to his military records.
This Jonathan M. Haynes is also on a roll of prisoners of war sent from
Alton Military Prison, Alton, IL, to Vicksburg, Mississippi, Sept. 23,
1862 to be exchanged. I don't know what happened to him after he was
exchanged. I am wondering if this could be the same man who is buried in
Ozan Cemetery. Any help with this confusing situation will be
appreciated!!

Barbara
