Jacob 'Jake' Arthur Fields (sometimes spelled Fieldes) was born 11-1833 in TN. Circa 1871 he married a widow with two children in AR. He had five five children with his second wife; the first two being born in AR.

They went to TX where he was a buffalo hunter. The last census record on which he is found is the 1900 Greer County IN TY census. No children are with him (they are all grown and have families of their own) and he does not show a wife on this census. I have not been able to locate him on the 1910 census in TX, OK, AR, or surrounding states.

Then in 1906 he applies for a Civil War pension in AR but it is denied. I have copies of 3-4 pages of information with regard to this application.

Could persons subscribing to this list advise me on how or where I might search to find information on this person. I do not have the name of the company in which he served in the Civil War but assume it was out of AR. Would I be wasting my time if I tried to obtain his military record from the NARC?

Thanks for any suggestions.
