Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone knows of any newspapers in AR that were active in
May of 1850? I'm looking for a newspaper account of the death of Fereby
(Benton) Vaughan. She died sometime in May of 1850, according to the Death
Schedule and is listed as having died at age 105, so I wondered if that was
news worthy.
Also, her grandson, Benjamin F. Vaughan died on April 7, 1903 and I wonder
if anyone has any obituaries from Arkansas papers for him? He was a Sheriff
for quite a while in Madison County and served most of his life as a public
servant, including a State Representative. I have the following obituary,
but would like to see others:
"Uncle Ben Vaughan, age 88 years, died at his home near Clifty Tuesday
morning. Mr. Vaughan had been a citizen of Madison County many years and was
for several years sheriff of the county. He had also held the offices of
representative and assessor. He was a highly respected citizen and his many
friends will be sorry to hear of his death. " Springdale News

Lastly, my great great grandmother, Mary Francis (Henderson) Vaughan -- who
was a daughter-in-law of Sheriff Ben Vaughan, died in Madison County on
October 26, 1910, and I've never seen any death notices or listings for her.
I'd really love to see one, as I don't know who her parents were. Can
anyone help?
