I had a feeling a long time ago, that Ancestry would somehow benefit from
USGENWEB. After all, they're been using the files from them and RootsWeb for
a long time and keep selling what they get.
They are making on heck of a monopoly on here. Getting free info, by duping
people into contributing, or otherwise.
There is no way I would pay any of them one nickle. Family Tree Maker is
even worse. I donated over 800 files to them. Then lightning hit my computer
and i lost my files. I contacted FTM and asked for my files only and
explained the problem to them. Naturally they said yes I could get my files
back from their program. Send em 20.00 and they would send me a CD. I
explained I didn't want everybody's info on the CD, I only wanted why I had
given them for free. Again, send em 20.00 and I asked did they realize that
Ihad given them the files FREE.
Oh Yes, and they realized I had given my files to them free, and it would
cost me 20.00 to get a copy of them. Since that time I have no longer
donated a file to anyone. There are a ton of places online that have the
same info for free and ways to get files and info without having to pay these
Cheats.
