I suspect that I know what happened here, but I am not going to spell it
out in this email. Suffice it to say that Victoria has a good point and
we have to be very, very careful when uploading files. If you have an
archives password, it is possible to back into the wrong state and
create havoc without meaning too. PLEASE, be very careful when you are
doing this kind of work. If we can't do it right, we will have to go
back to the system of sending the files to the FMs or to me to upload.

While we are on this topic, I want to point out again how very important
it is to notify the FM of the state or county when you upload a file.
You should email the file name, cemetery name, size, submitter's name
and url to the FM so that the info can be added to the TOC. I know this
isn't happening in many cases and that makes it really hard on the FMs
and creates a void for researchers.

Another point I want to make is that submitters have been complaining to
me that they try to submit files to Tombstone managers and get the
response that the file has to be submitted in text format. This is NOT
a rule of the Project. Personally, for formatting purposes, other
formats work better and then I can convert them to text before
uploading. If the submitter sends it in text, sometimes formatting the
file is almost impossible. So, let's not turn down submissions just
because they aren't in text format. If you don't have the ability or the
software to convert a file, ask for help. I can walk you through the
process using other Office Programs, and we have Mac people who can help
as well.

Thanks, Pam
