Jeannie, I noticed that your e-mail addy includes "Rector" in it, so I'm
assuming that you would be able to go to the library at Rector. I have
compiled a notebook of H.M. Manchester's newspaper writings beginning in
the 1920's thru the 1950's. Mr. Manchester wrote "Histories", as he remembered,
about many of the surrounding early communities and schools. The Vowell
school is discussed in some of those 'writings'. A Mr. McDermitt, who I
believe was 'head' of Vowell school, also wrote some history of that school,
and his material is also included in the notebook.
Good luck! Barbara
