A baptizing took place last Sunday afternoon at Black River near here when
24 were immersed. (Parks Crossing).
The Corning boys third baseball team one day recently played the Blue boy
nine and were defeated by one score, the scores being seven and eight. Ray
McCOLLUM and Orie VANNATTA pitched for Blue.
Our school vacated last Friday. We will miss our teachers until next Winder's
term begins, but we are glad that Professor and Mrs. H.E. NISWONGER still
will be our teachers. (Blue).
Several from Moark and this vicinity are suffering from Malaria attacks.
Moark school closed last Friday, finishing a two-months Summer term.
Examinations were given on Monday and Tuesday of last week and following the
seat number of each pupil in the Seventh, Eighth and Ninth grades for next
Winter's term. Number one amd on down:
Ninth grade, Bunny KING, one; Goldie DELL, two; John COX, three; Fannie
TISDIAL, four; Lanie HATHAWAY, five; Doris FALLEN, six; A.H. SNODGRASS, Jr.,
seven; Dorothy AVERY, eight; alice RICHARDSON, nine; Herman AVERY, 10; Agnes
GOULD, 11. Eighth grade, Edward WILLIAMS, one; Flora MURRELL, two; Kenneth
JOHNSON, three; Mildred WILLIAMS, four; Seventh grade, Howard REDMON, one;
Edgar MARSHALL, two; Douglas RICHARDSON, three; Wilburn DELL, four; William
ERICKSON, five. A large number made perfect attendance records last month.
Everyone remember there will be a pie supper at Blue School House this Friday
evening beginning at seven o'clock. Proceeds to pay ministers who preach at
Blue School on Sunday afternoons. (Parks Crossing).
One day this week, Moark vicinity received 20 barrels of flour, supplied by
the United States Government. It is being distributed by the American Red
Cross. However, we hope that not many in our community will be forced to call
for it. We understand that this flour is not to be given out until next
Winter.
Several people of this place last Friday picked a part of the cotton which
belongs to Moark Penecostal Chruch.
The Frank GARR family recently of St. Louis, have returned to Moark to
reside. We welcome them back into our community. (Moark).
The Godfrey ISAAC family of Missouri visited Mrs. ISAAC's mother, Mrs. Will
FOSTER, here last Sunday. (Landmark)
The County Line Singers' convention will meet in Landmark Baptist Chruch
building at 2:30 p.m. on the fifth Sunday in this month, at which time the
following program is being rendered: Opening song, "Amazing Grace", Prayer
by Brother NEELY of Corning; Welcome address, H.W. JOHNSTON; Congregational
song, Led by Y.R. ROBINSON; Congregational song, led by Daly WYATT;
Congregational song, led by A.S. JOHNSON; Special song, led by Palatka class;
Congrgational song, led by G.E. JAMES; Congrgational song, led by
A.N.JOHNSON, president; Congrgational song, led by N. GATES; Congrationa
song, led by F.V. SMOTHERS; Congrgational song, led by E. JOHNSON; Quartet;
Special songs, Old Reyno class, Blue School District class, Landmark Church
class; Congregational song, led by William McELHANEY; Special songs, Moark
class and Richardson class; Congregational song, led by Floyd JONES. The
public is invited and urged to come out, take part and help to make this
another interesting convention. The Pollard Quartet also two classed from
Missouri are expected to be present. If any leader or class has been
overlooked in making up this program, we will be glad to list you at the
