The remains of Wallace J. BROWN who died on Thursday of last week, while
undergoing a surgical operation in a Memphis hospital, were laid to rest in
Brownie Cemetery at Black River Church on his plantation near his home last
Tuesday morning.

Misses Lois ADAMS and Vadie PHILLIPS last Sunday visited friends in New Hope
settlement.
Grandma MAYBERRY of Thorn Grove vicinity came here last Saturday for a visit
in the home of her son, James MONTGOMERY.
Misses Eula, Trella and Avis ADAMS were guests of H.B. ADAMS family in Walnut
Grove vicinity last Sunday afternoon. (Cache Lake)

We are having a few evening services at Walnut Grove school house this week.
Elder H.C. HIGGINBOTHAM of Knobel is preaching. We intend to hold singing
exercises three or four evenings next week. (Walnut Grove)

Homer PORTER has bought an automobile. He and his family visitied the Elmer
PHELANS last Sunday.
Road work on the Black River Highway is progressing fast and satisfactorily.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas HOGGARD and several others of Pollard vicinity passed
here last Wednesday to attend a Baptist Association meeting at Brownie
Chapel. (Walnut Grove)

Buck ADAMS went to Doniphan, Missouri last Sunday, looking for cotton pickers.
The cotton raisers find it difficult to get cotton pickers, on account of low
prices.
Several absent from Sunday School last Sunday. On account of damage by heavy
rains recently, our farmers decided to harvest it that day.

Several Cache Lake boys who had been in Missouri picking cotton returned home
last Friday.
Russell FREY who has been in Missouri for two years has moved back to
Arkansas. He visited people at Cache Lake last Sunday. (Cache Lake)

Professor and Mrs. MABRY who taught throughout the past two terms at this
place, expect to teach the next term at New Hope School house. We wish them
much success.
Several of our neighbors lately have suffered attacks of ague, attributeable
to mosquitoes, we presume. (Walnut Grove)
