GOLDIE HECKMAN

Goldie WHITSON HECKMAN of Bethalto, Illinois, formerly of Corning, died
April 16, 2004 in Bethalto Nursing Home. She was born January 15, 1908 in
Knobel, daughter of Thomas and Josephine MYERS. Her first husband was Van
WHITSON and her second husband was Cliff HECKMAN.
Survivors are four daughters, Hilda LARSEN, Statton Island, New York, Joyce
GAZAWAY, North Little Rock, Peggy JENKINS, Alton, Illinois and Vanita
TURCOL, East Alton Illinois; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren
and four great great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen CHILDRESS, Corning.
Funeral services were conducted Monday morning, April 19, in Ermert Funeral
Home chapel with Wayne BALDWIN officiating. Burial in Bond Cemetery, Knobel.

FLODA NISWONGER

Graveside services were conducted in Corning Cemetery, Monday afternoon,
April 19, 2004, for Floda NISWONGER, Corning resident, age 75, who died
April 6, 2004 in Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. The Reverend
Larry HUGHES officiated. She was born May 13, 1928 in Clay County, daughter
of Abe "A.O." and Effie MILLIKAN. She was of the Protestant faith and
married Aven Edward NISWONGER on December 13, 1947.
Survivors are her husband, Aven NISWONGER, Corning; two sons, Randolph Aven
NISWONGER, Marshall, Missouri and Kenneth Edward NISWONGER, Chicago,
Illinois; one brother, Dois MILLIKAN, St. Louis and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brother, Floyd and Charlie
MILLIKAN.

BERNICE ALEXANDER

Mrs. Bernice SMITH ALEXANDER, 91, of Newport, formerly of Corning, died
April 12, 2004 in Little Rock. She was born on August 24, 1912 in Farewell,
Missouri, daughter of I.O. and Lucy LIONBERGER ARNOLD.
She was a homemaker and member of Holden Avenue Church of Christ. She
enjoyed making draperies and curtains.
She is survived by her husband, W.G. ALEXANDER, Newport; one daughter,
Bettie STEGALL, Newport; two step-daughters, Twila BLANCHETT, Newport and
Charlene EPPERSON, Olyphant; three grandchildren, Perry STEGALL, Newport,
Penny NELSON, Destin, Florida and Patrick STEGALL, Newport; five great
grandchildren, Payton, Brent and Sarah STEGALL, Erin and Joel WATSON.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles L. SMITH; three
brothers, and six sisters. Bernice and "Scatter" SMITH and daughter, Betty
Sue, resided in Corning before moving to the Newport area several years ago.
He worked as a station agent for Missouri-Pacific Railroad here. She was an
aunt to Jimmy and Freddie ARNOLD, Chloe and Larry MASTERSON, Corning.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning, April 14, in Jackson's
Newport Funeral Home with Erman CRONEY officiating. Singers were Holden
Avenue Singers. Burial was in Corning Cemetery.

JACOB WILLIS

Jacob WILLIS, 66 year old Oxly, Missouri resident, died April 15, 2004 in
Harry S. TRUMAN Veteran's Medical Center, Columbia, Missouri.
He was born June 26, 1937 in Success, son of Willie Monroe and Bessie BLAIR
WILLIS. He was a United States Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict and a
Baptist. He was employed as a truck driver for Don MATHIS Farms.
Survivors are one son, David WILLIS, Clinton, Louisiana; one daughter,
Rhonda BLANKINSHIP, Clinton, Louisiana; one sister, Betty J. SCHUETTE, St.
Charles, Missouri and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one
sister, Cona ADKISSON.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, April 19, in Ermert
Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Wayne BALDWIN officiating. Burial in Hitt
Cemetery.

PEARLIE PUTMAN

Pearlie Dean PUTMAN, 72, Oxly, Missouri, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004 in St.
Bernard's Regional Medical Center, Jonesboro. She was born April 16, 1932 in
Success and was a lifelong resident of Ripley County, Missouri. She was a
member of West Point United Pentecostal Church and had worked as a
housekeeper for Doniphan Retirement Home and enjoyed reading, gardening and
fishing.
On July 31, 1948, she married J.D. PUTMAN at Piggott and he survives. Other
survivors include four daughters, Barbara GOODMAN of Merced, California,
Lynn FOULK, Donna ARNOLD and Angie GRIMES all of Doniphan; five sons, Vernon
PUTMAN of Mammoth Spring, Kenny PUTMAN of Gray Cliff, Montana, Henry PUTMAN
of Doniphan, Harold PUTMAN and James PUTMAN both of Oxly; three sisters,
Ernestine WALTERS, Doniphan, Maxine LEWIS, Machesney Park, Illinois and
Imogene SHONACO, Rockford, Illinois; 35 grandchildren and 26 great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie PUTMAN; two brothers, Huey
DAVIDSON and Jerold DAVIDSON and her parents, Dennis and Carolyn HARPOLE
DAVIDSON.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 15 in Edwards Funeral Home
chapel, Doniphan, with Charles CARR officiating. Burial in Antioch Cemetery.

CLAUDEAN BOLEN

Claudean BOLEN, 82, of McDougal, died Sunday April 18, 2004 in Hardy. Born
in Murphysboro, Illinois, November 1, 1921, daughter of the late Arlie Lee
and Elvira Elizabeth Jane COFFER HERRING, she was a member of Landmark
Missionary Baptist Church, McDougal.
Survivors include four daughters, Genendal KORNEXL of Chelsa, Michigan,
Bonnie READ of Hardy, Linda SCHMIDT of Greenway and Vonda NUTT of Benton;
three sons, Howard BOLEN of Dexter, Michigan, Jim BOLEN of Hardy and Rob
BOLEN of Reyno; one sister, Floie GATES of Hernando, Mississippi; four
brothers, Ray HERRING of Dexter, Gerald HERRING of Huntsville, Alabama and
Fred HERRING and Ralph HERRING, both of Corning; 17 grandchildren; 28 great
grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Robert BOLEN, three
brothers, Joe, Wes and Con HERRING and one sister, Jane FORBES.
Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon in Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home
chapel in Piggott with Reverend David FINLEY officiating. Burial in Post Oak
Cemetery, McDougal.
Grandsons, Clay BOLEN, Shawn READ, Randy BOLEN, Ken READ, Jason SCHMIDT, Kip
READ, Deren BOLEN, Buddy KORNEXL, Robert KORNEXL and Dylan NUTT were
pallbearers.
