History of McDougal taken from the Clay County Courier, Corning, Clay County Arkansas.
Will and Sarah HOPKINS moved their family to the McDougal area in 1918, moving everything they owned and their children in two covered wagons.
As they left Grandin, Missouri they stayed in the Corning area about one year before venturing to McDougal to join others in teh timber business.
When Will and Sarah arrived in McDougal, they had ten children, including six boys who were old enough to work in timber. Louis HOPKINS (father of Donald HOPKINS, who is working on McDougal history) was only 12 years old when the family arrived in McDougal, but he was considered old enough to work timber.
