Hello. I am a great great grandchild of Willis Jackson Cope. He was born in Mayfield, Kentucky. My great grandmother Lu Ella Cope Adams was born when they must have been back for a visit with the Cope family as she was born at Springfield, Kentucky.
Willis Jackson Cope found Cleveland County when he was on his way to Texas with his sick wife and three sons that turned into 4 right there in the area of Cleveland County. After his first wife died, he came back with his young sons and lived the rest of his days there. Around the turn of the century, many of the Copes moved to the England area in Lonoke County. The irony of it is that was her older half brothers that came with them. Those that stayed behind in Cleveland County were actually her own brothers.
My grandmother was born at what I think was called Friendship way back in Dec. of 1890. In the Joe B. Adams family, some were born in Cleveland and the rest in Lonoke County. The little Joe B. Adams that died young around about the age of 10 is buried near his grandparents and all the rest of the kin.
So all my connections go way back.
Linda
