ARKANSAS MARRIAGES, 1851-1900 (Update adding Crawford County)
Becoming the twenty-fifth state in 1836, Arkansas was home to hundreds of
thousands of residents throughout the nineteenth century. Today’s update adds
Crawford County to the collection of marriage records from Hempstead, Pike,
Washington, and Yell counties between 1851 and 1900. Crawford County lies on
the
Arkansas River, on the most western border of Arkansas. It was created in
1820
from Pulaski County. The county seat is Van Buren. Taken from microfilm
copies
of original county documents, each record provides spouses' names, marriage
date, and county of residence. This database provides the names of more than
43,000 men and women. For those seeking ancestors from early Arkansas, this
collection can be a useful source of information.
