DEATH OF "AUNT" BETSY KING

"Aunt" Betsy King, aged 87 years, and on of Van Buren's greatly beloved
colored women, died at her home Thursday night. The funeral was conducted
from Mt. Olive church Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock by Rev. A. T.
Stephenson.

The deceased had been a resident of Van Buren 50 years and during her long
residence here made a host of friends, both white and colored, who will
regret to learn of her death.

It was our pleasure to know "Aunt" Betsy through her long life in Van Buren,
and never in that long period did we ever hear an unkind word said of her.
She died loved by all who knew her.
