I have a John Tony Nix, 1917 to 1965 bur Round Hill Cemetery, who married
Kate Marie Fite, b 1924. Kate's sister, Lorene b 1921, married James Grant
Nix, who was a brother to John. The Nix's are 2nd cousins on my mother's
side. Any matches?

Don,
Your Mary is probably one of ours. I haven't been able to find mine past
1870. Maybe the Gray's and the Fite's went off together. Some of George and
Naomi Nix group went into Texas. Martha Jane Nix married M.L. Fite Feb
1860 in Hot Springs County in the home of Abner Green. M L and Martha had 3
children Joseph Wesley Fite, Amanda Fite, and Jesse Fite. M.L. died and we
don't see them again. Joseph Wesley Fite married Nancy Jane Walker and
Amanda Fite married Nancy's brother William Walker. We don't know what
happened to Jesse Fite (male). I am telling you all this because I do know
that the Gray's also married into the Walker family. I will have to look
for my notes. It makes sense that it is probably the same family. Some of
the Gray/Walker descendants and the Nix/Walker/Fite descendants ended up in
Holdenville Oklahoma and then on to Washita County Oklahoma.
I hope this helps. Sometimes I have to stew on things. Sorry I didn't give
this to you sooner. Things have been busy around here with Spring Break and
kids.
Let me know what you find out.
I do have a question. Have you heard of any Indian blood in the Nix family?
We are trying to find where it came in.
