Subject: [ARFAULKN] Mrs. Jane Glover, Guardian
Date: Mon, 22 Sep 2003 16:47:14 -0500
Some time back I mentioned a newspaper article of September 12, 1922, regarding Mrs. Jane Glover as guardian of Dock E. Glover and Beverly B. Glover, minors, applying to the Probate Court for an order to sell the homestead interest and the undivided one-twelfth interest each of said minors in and to the East 7/8ths of the South Half of the Northeast Quarter, Section 1, Township 5 North, Range 12 West, 70 acres.
Probate records copied today show:
Jane Glover appointed Guardian of Dock E. and Beverly D. Glover, upon posting bond of $25 - August 30, 1922.
On October 16, 1922 an Order for Sale of Minors Land was entered - pertinent info is:
"The minors, Dock E. Glover and Beverly D. Glover, are two of the twelve children of J. J. Glover, who died intestate in Faulkner County, Arkansas on or about the 21st day of April, 1919, leaving surviving him his widow, Jane Glover, and his eleven children and the descendants of a deceased child, as his only heirs at law; that at the time of his death the said J. J. Glover owned and resided upon as homestead the following described property situated in Faulkner County, Arkansas."
(Same description as above)
"Further that all the children of said J. J. Glover, excepting the two minors name herein, are of age, and that his widow still survives --- said minors each inherited a homestead interest and an undivided 1/12th interest; said minors have no other property and have no income from which they might be supported; that it is necessary and to the best interests of said minor that their interest in the above lands be sold for their support and education."
Property was ordered sold at the east door of the Court House on November 24, 1922 ---.
January 25, 1923 - Report of Sale Confirmed:
"That at said sale Faulkner County Bank & Trust Co., bid and offered the sum of $240 for the homestead interest and the undivided one-twelfth interest each in fee of said minors--- that the property was appraised by Coy H. Parker, Jno. Henderson and Euland Dee Simpson who appraised the interest of said minors in said property at the sum of $160 or a total value of $320."
Wonder how the Bank acquired the adult children's interest???
