Falls Dead in County Office
Rev. Glover Expires At Courthouse
-------------------------------------------------
>From Wednesday's Daily
Seized with a heart attack while waiting in the offices of Sheriff
Neel Webb at the courthouse at 9 o'clock this morning, - Rev. Press H.
Glover, aged 77, Baptist minister of the East Shady Grove community,
sank to the floor and died before a physician could reach him.
Rev. Glover's health had beenpoor for some time, but his condition
was apparently as good as usual when he came to Conway today to pay his
taxes and attend to other business.
He had lived in Faulkner county for nearly 58 years and was famed
for having pronounced more marriage ceremonies and conducted more
funeral services than any other minister in the county and possibly in
the state. He was active in the ministry throughout his adult life and
also was a farmer. He was born in Georgia August 11, 1853, and came to
Faulkner county the year it was created by the legislature, 1873.
Rev. Glover's wife died about a year ago. He is survived by two
sons, H.J. Glover of Greenbrier adn J.P. Glover of Pine Bluff, and three
daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Wilson and Mrs. J.W. Puckett of Greenbrier and
Mrs. J.A. Ray of Hattieville, Ark.
The body was removed from the courthouse to J.A. Pence & Son's
undertaking establishment and was taken this afternoon to the Glover
home, three miles east of Greenbrier. Funeral services will be held at
the family home at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon by Rev. W.J. Burgess and
Rev. G.L. Richardson. Burial will be at East Shady Grove cemetery, in
charge of Greenbrier lodge of Masons, No. 290, of which Rev. Glover was
a member for many years.
