Hi List,

A while back, I forwarded an email from Wayne Blevins whose
grgrandfather was Stephen Blevins. I am resending it plus a follow-up
note in hopes that someone may shed some light on this Blevins family.

Comments are encouraged;-)

An email from Wayne Blevins, great-grandson of Stephen Blevins dated
March 30, 2002

Steven Decatur Blevins was born in Oxford, Arkansas in 1874 and died in
Bridgeport, Texas in 1959. He listed his mother and father on his
Social Security application that he filed in 1937, as Nacy C. Acklin and
William K. Blevins. I understand that Nancy Caroline Acklin was married
to Elkanah D. Blevins, yet there is a distinctive age differential. Is
is possible that Acklin could have re-married another Blevins and given
birth to Stephen? Perhaps this is simply coincidental, but I would like
to pose the question. It appears rather remote that another Acklin and
Blevins could have married in Izard or Fulton Counties during this
particular time frame.

Another email from Wayne dated April 6, 2002 is as follows:

My wife and I just returned from a visit to Izard and Fulton Counties.
It appears that my great-grandfather (Steven, born 1874) was the
youngest son of Nancy C. Acklin who was married to William K. Blevins.
William K. must have died shortly thereafter, since the 1880 census
notes that Nancy K. was a widow. I suppose that she then married
Elkanah D. Blevins and I do not yet know how he and William K. were
related. I suspect that they were brothers, but have not confirmed.
