Hi Deborah,

Exactly which of the folks do you think might be yours??
There are these listed in the Tax Records 1829-1866.
Kizzia
Lerenzo D.
Lorenzo D.
Sallie
Kizziah, L. D.
L.S.
Noah.
I also found a Kessiah, Leroy S.

I found these in the CW pension list.
Kizzia, Nathan - Pike Co.
Kissia, Thos. M. Izard Co. widow, America

I did check the "Peace" list for your fellows but didn't find even one
of them listed. The Peace list is a group of men who didn't want to
fight for either side in the CW.

Did you find any of these in the birth states you mentioned??

I took a look at the 1860 Lawrence Co. Census, Marion Twp. and found:

Kizza, Benjamin 41 Laborer-/150 KY, Mary 51 KY, Benj. H. 14 KY, Martha
H. 12 KY, 131-147-154.

Indiana was just a hop over the state line from KY...

The info they ask for is what you would find on the microfilm and they
assume you are using the microfilm. (They sold copies of the microfilm
in 1993 for $25.00.) You are going to have to decide which of these
fellows are your man and send for the records. If you find them in the
tax list and write to the Archives, they shouldn't have any problem
finding them for you.

I found a land patent for:
Kezzia, Lorenzo - Vol. AR0630.182, Land Ofc. Batesville, 30-Oct-57,
Doc.# 9663, Cash entry; Part #1: NESE, Sec 1, Twp. 15 N8, R W, 40,000
Acres.
Also:
Kizzia, Lorenzo D.; Vol. AR0780.171, Land Ofc. Batesville, 01-Sep-60
Doc# 14827, Cash Entry; Part #1: SESE, Sec 1, Twp. 15N, R 8 W, 40,000
Acres.

Write to National Archives facility in Suitland, Maryland. (Mail to this
branch is addressed:
General Branch NNFG, Civil Archives Division, National Archives and
Records Administration, Washington, DC 20409)
Include all the Land patent info as above. They will let you know the
cost of copies, (usually 0.26 cents a page or $6.00.
This might help you out some..

You might want to consider that he just up and left them, changed his
name and took off. He wouldn't be the first one to do this. If he owned
no land and had no slaves or livestock, he wouldn't be listed in the tax
records at all.

You might want to start from scratch and redocument what you have found
for sure.
Good Luck! Jeri
