Hi Lonna,

In the booklet I have, there is Vinson WHEELER of ? and his wife, Louisa
SHELTON of VA. THey married ca 1838. From reading this, he was the oldest
son, but no parents names are mentioned. Seems as if he had siblings:
Aurella Ann married W.W. HUBBARD, Sally married Bill MOXEY and Dick.
Vinson settled in Middle TN until a short time before the CW. Daughter Jane
married Tom MORRIS and lived all her life in Middle TN and across the line
in KY.

"About 5 yrs before the CW, Vinson moved by covered wagon to Independence Co
AR. Three sons b in TN, one b in Newport AR on the journey. At the time of
the war, Louisa SHELTON WHEELER died and is buried near Batesville."

"At 8:20 on the morning of April 12, 1861, the Civil War that was to last
four yrears began with the firing on Fort Sumpter. We find the WHEELER
family living near Batesville, the best town in AR at this time. Little Rock
was made up of a few small shanties just by the Rock near a small spring.
The streets were laid out by the simple method of chopping down a few trees.
THe first postmaster of Little Rock was Amos WHEELER from St. Louis."

"The second year of the war, Samuel Thomas WHEELER, 19 years of age,
returned to KY and served in the National Guard until the end of the war.
He married Eliza GARDNER of one of the founder families of Hickman Co KY. "

"Vinson Wheeler married a second time to a Mrs. FOSTER, having one son and
possibly other children. To this union were born two daughters, Ena and
Virginia. After the death of the father and the mother the girls were
brought to KY where they were cared for by Aunt Jane MORRIS and the
brothers."

"By 1890, the families of Aunt Arella HUBBARD, Aunt Sally MOXEY and the
four sons of Vinson, Samuel T., W. N., Frazer and Ed, who came later, were
settled in Clay Co."

"Arella Ann WHEELER was born in North Carolina April 30, 1838. She moved
with her parents to TN. My grandmother married William Weekly HUBBARD. In
the fall of 1874, they came to Clay Co AR arriving the 4th of Dec. THere
were 6 children born."

Sons of VINSON WHEELER:
Samuel Thomas Wheeler born in Weakley Co TN Oct 12 1845.

William Napoleon WHEELER was b Dec 22, 1847 in Weakley Co TN. Married Emma
Jackson EDWARDS in ?Graur Co KY."

Vinson Frazer WHEELER was born in Weakley Co TN married Emma SEALS of the
Haywood Community.

James Edward WHEELER born Dec 22 1859 at Newport AR married Lura Lee
McAllister of Hickman Co KY."

These are taken from the book as it is written. Does seem as if this family
was from NC, then TN and KY finally to AR.
