Evelyn,
I wish I knew where the data came from that is not documented anywhere on
James Martin marrying Isabel Melton in ILL. This would have had to be abt
1835 at least or sooner. With some researchers believing that the Meltons
were in ILL at one time, I guess its possible. But, were looking at an
earlier time. I feel that the James Melton line in Barry Co., MO holds some
of the answers. If, you look at the marriages of James there. The other
families connected Sooter and the Fly could hold some answers also. At least
the areas that they were in. I just do not know. They may have traveled
together.
The old letters from my decedents have proven pretty true so far. I have been
able to relay on those letters for a lot of information. One of the letters
tell of Malinda, daughter of Isabell's grandmother dying on the Trail of
Tears. This could be her Martin side also. I am looking into the
possibilities of either grandmother of Malinda.
Isabel (Elizabeth) is not mentioned as one of James and Permilias
daughters. Another researcher says that there may be a missing daughter and
that could be her? she is related somehow I know to this James, unless she is
related to one of his brothers and were not sure if he is connected to the
other brothers mentioned in Izard Co. Probably so tho. I am just rattling my
thoughts off here more then anything.
I believe that Isabel died in Stone Co, before the war as indicated by her
daughter's Indian packet. She must have been residing with one of her
children. Either Brown Calvin Robert Martin, Noah Martin, Richard or Isaac
Martin or possibly her 1 daughter that I cannot find Jane Martin. I wish I
knew who she married. I cannot seem to get help from Stone Co., on a possibly
burial site or death information for Isabel. Not as many people on this site
that are able to help. My other question would be. Why were the Meltons in
ILL? Were they traveling from TN? or had they been there for some time? I am
happy to see so many folks looking for answers too. Maybe someone will come
up with something new. Got to go to work now. I would rather stay home and do
this.
