Vera

That is funny......trust me, no one's fault. This List hums along at quite
a clip at times and for sure, much can get past me. Sometimes it is a month
or more before I can respond to some and I always love to talk genealogy, at
least while I am able to be on the List. I travel as often as I can.

Interesting that you said that your Laynes were in Randolph Co., Arkansas.
My immediate line was, too. Have never found them on a record, though and
as you said......most of them spelled the surname as Layne, but a few took
the Lane spelling.

Have you ever corresponded with Alyce Hart Wasitj? Now, don't ask me to
pronounce her last name......Smith it is not. She does a great deal of
research on both the Lane/Layne and Tiller families and seems real
knowledgable about the early migrations, which I am not. I'll ask her if
there was a branch of mine in Indiana. Just seems interesting that both of
ours were in Randolph Co. at the same time, it seems.

Like most of the List, you have helped me in the past with regard to my ever
elusive Smiths and Sinors from Marion and Baxter Cos. and as I recall,
aren't you a Smith, too? Just to need to thank you again and hope that all
of us can be of some help in your seasoned research.
