The 1900 census shows both Zac. T. Sheid and Octavia Rector as
"single" although I have them married in June 1900 and thats when the
census was taken, so they must have married soon after the census was
taken. According to the census practice, if he was married before, he
should have been listed as either "divorced" or "widowed".
Anyway, I have "T.C. McGuffey" listed as the first wife of James L. Sheid,
Zac's father. There was a "Guffey" marriage in the family, but it was Henry
Britten Guffey, husband of Rhoda Sheid. (sister of James L.) And there
were two William G. Sheids, one born 10 Nov 1870-d 21 Jun 1871, brother
of Zach Sheid. The other William G. was born 18 nov 1853 and was the
brother of James L. Sheid (and would have been Zach's uncle).......hrb
