Hi girls...Don't know if this is any help but in the 1900 census , my
great-grandfather Thomas Jefferson Cooper married as second wife, Sarah
Elizabeth Bobbitt. Sarah had a daughter when they married named Mary
Speaks,(born Jan 1871) I dont know if this was out of wed-lock or not, but
in the 1900 census Mary says she has been married 8 years and has had 4
chilldren , three daughters are living with her, but no husband listed,
Mary E. Speaks, born 1891 , Minnie J. Speaks, born 1893, and Anna B. ,
born `1896. I think Anna B. married a Martin. They were all living with the
Cooper family then.
The census says the name is SPARKS...but it is SPEAKS.
