George Columbus Lawrence, son of Bennett Silas and Sarah Baker Lawrence was
born 0ctober 20, 1851 in Chattooga County, Georgia. He married Rebecca
Emmadore Sisk about 1872 in Searcy County, where he became a Baptist
preacher. He died there in 1926 and both are buried in the Freeman Cemetery.
Rebecca was the daughter of Allen R. and Mary Melissa Alexander Sisk, born
in 1852. They had 8 children all born near Big Flat:
1. Asa Bennett Lawrence born June 1873 and married Nancy Catherine
Farris(1877-1956)
2. Anthony Gordon Lawrence b. Nov 25, 1875 in Stone County married Tennessee
J. Ramsey
3. Sarah Malissa Lawrence b. Dec 1, 1876 in Stone County, never married.
4. Mary Ellen Lawrence b. Jan 6, 1880 in White County, Ar married Columbus
Lafayetta Ramsey.
5. George Columbus Lawrence, Jr., b. Oct 1, 1881 married Mary Annis Ticer.
6. Amanda Maude Lawrence b. Nov 20, 1883 married John Jackson Rose in Stone
County, ar. He was the son of Matthew and Nancy Brattan Rose.
7. Bell O. Lawrence born Feb. 1885 married (1) Gilbert Rose. (2) Sebron J.
Stewart, son of Francis M. and Margaret Carter Stewart.
8. James Littleton Lawrence b. Sept 1895 near Big Flat and married Lillie
Weathers.
