Bennett Silas Lawrence son of James and Kizzia Wade Lawrence was born August
7, 1827 in Gwinnett County, Georgia. He married Sarah Elizabeth Baker. They
moved to Searcy County, Ar, in 1853 where he purchased 80 acres of federal
land. Sarah was the daughter of Littleton and Martha Adeline Morgan
Baker..Children of Bennett and Sarah are:
1. Virgil Marion Lawrence b. March 9, 1850 in Chattooga County, Georgia. He
married (1) Indiana Shelton Copeland and (2) Mary Lula Bobbitt Speaks.
2. George Columbus Lawrence b. Oct 20, 1851. He married Rebecca Emmadore
Sisk.
3. James Littleton Lawrence b. Dec 14, 1853 near Big Flat. He married Rachel
Emaline Huffines, daughter of William and Minerva Sisk Huffines.
4. Martha Kay Lawrence b. Oct 14, 1855 in Searcy County. She married Henry
Reece son of James Lewis and Hannah Rose Reece.
5. Asa Bennett Lawrence b. Jan 4, 1857 in Searcy County. He married (1) Mary
Jane Ticer. (2) Mary Rorie (3) Harriett C. Ballentine. Harriett was the
daughter of Benjamin S. and Melissa Balentine.
6. Mary Jo Lawrence b. Feb. 1, 1859. She married (1) P. R. Sisk (2) Jordan
J. Treat. After she died Jordan married (2) Sarah Jane Huffines.
