A BIG THANKS

I would like to take this time to thank each and everyone
on the list for your outstanding help in providing me with
invaluable information in reference to RUBERT BYLER. I
undertook the project upon myself over 18 months ago to
research, and write the story in reference to the Murder of
the Izard County Sheriff 04 Dec 1945. (This Thursday it
will have been 58 years ago this terrible tragedy occurred)
As a child I heard sketchy information, and opinions, but
never really understood the particulars about this case. I
do remember that it divided the community as well as the
County as to who was responsible, etc. However, that was
not the purpose of this book...to take sides...Just present
the facts as they are documented...and to show how everyone
associated with the crime paid, and paid a terrible price.

I have researched every document I believe that has his
name on it far and wide, and many of the people who were
either directly or indirectly associated in the nth degree
to his trial. When I got thru with the book it was 280
pages... 8 1/2 x 11 inches and printed on 60 lb offset
paper in 11 point print. I at first decided to put it in
two volumes, and printed on one side, since it first
appeared to be the less expensive route to take, but when I
took the book into the publisher in Little Rock last
Tuesday, they refigured, and gave a much better price than
originally quoted for the two volume one side price if I
would agree for them to print on both sides of the paper.
I readily agreed.

I can honestly say that I went into the project with an
open mind, and wanted to talk to anyone who had knowledge
about the crime. I was most fortunate to talk with two eye
witnesses who are alive today about this terrible tragedy.
As I mentioned previously, I have searched every document
related to the story, and have written the book from
documented and/eye witness accounts. And I can say that
when I finished the book I still had an open mind.

Again, I want to thank each and every one of you for the
help you gave me.

Bill Blevins
