Sorry guys I have to share my memory of chicken and dumplings.

At Galatia Cemetery every second Sunday in June is Decoration Day. After
church the benches were brought out and placed so the seats touched and the
backs were to the out side. Those backs being very high made it to hard for
little kids to reach over and serve themself. Also back then the men folks
were fed first then the mothers fixed the kids plates. The last time I went
to one of these "dinner on the ground" I was told I could fix my own plate
if I could reach over the backs of the benches. Wouldn't you know "all" the
chicken and any other meat there might have been was gone. All that was left
was the chicken feet in the dumplings. To this day I remember how good those
feet tasted. Now everyone knows nothing was wasted and the bony pieces made
the best dumplings.

For you city slickers the feet were boiled a little while and skinned before
using.
They sale pickled pigs feet in the market, surely the chickens feet aren't
any dirtier.
