That was a puzzle to me too.....however, I found the marriage record in
"izard Co. Marriage Record Book 2 " and it said Thornton. I am thinking
maybe her mother married second to a Mr. Aiken .... or it could be she
married first to Mr. Thornton, second to Mr. Sanders and third to Mr. Aiken.
Oops, just now found this in same book Aikin, J. R. 29 to Mrs. Susan
Sanders, 46 on 3/4/1894. Guess that clears this up???
