Charlene, I'm sitting here laughing at your comments, who are you?
I went to gradeschool and high school there, leaving in '67. A ton of
mid-development arrivals McNeills and my much, much later arrival Pecks are buried
there. With the McNeill ancestry, I'm literally kin to half the countryside
around that part of IZARD---there are so many allied families it is staggering.
From my grandmothers's siblings only it is Smith, Walker, Miller, Lofton plus
when you look at her Mother's family it is Cantrell, Mason, Skidmore, Peel,
Adams---then it literally becomes three-quarters of the countryside.
Which families are you researching in Izard, Charlene? I vaguely remembered
the Jones but which branch? Are you related to those families that are showing
up now?
There wasn't a Jones in our class that I remember but the boys, Terry and
Buster Jones were in grades after me. Those kids were always around and very
really active in the Volunteer Fire Department and I know Buster is assistant
manager at Harps there at Calico. Are you connected with that family? I can't
think of the older sister's name but I remember her as having given a painting of
Main Street Calico to the Mayor's Office when it was in the old original Bank
building on Main Street (where the post office was in the 1950s and the
Chamber of Commerce is presently).
