Calico Rock Progress - Jul 11, 1957 - Samuel Ballard Dies At Oxford

Samuel Sanford Ballard, died suddenly at his home in Oxford July 4, at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 27 days. He was born in Illinois March 7, 1870.

Mr Ballard was wed in 1891 at Wiseman, Ark. to Miss Lillian Wiseman who preceded him in death on October 6, 1940.

A daughter, Mrs Curtis Mason also preceded him in death in 1925.

Survivors include two sons, W. F. and M. L. Ballard, both of Oxford; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted at the Oxford Meth.-Presbyterian church July 7 with Rev. Remmel Rowden and Rev. Hugh Cooper officiating.

Pallbearers were Arlin Helm, Paul Grills, Earl Edmonston, Muncy Ferguson, Graden Bon and Ralph Combs.

Burial was in the Oxford Cemetery. (md 18 Sep 1891)
